Supreme Court justices are nominated by the President of the United States, and thru advice and consent of the US Senate, the nominee is either rejected or put in place as a Justice. That's in the Constitution that the Republicans in this country live or die for, just ask them.
But even before today, they have said that no nominee will even be considered by this Republican controlled Senate until a new President has been elected, so that the will of the people can have a voice in that nominee. My fellow Americans, the people did speak and have a voice in the nomination, we elected our current President twice and that in itself should qualify as 'having a voice'.
But today, Sunday the 20th of March, the 'leader' of the Senate set a new group of rules for that confirmation and he did so in the friendly confines of an interview with Chris Wallace on Faux News Sunday. I was pointed to the video clip of the affair as I don't let that channel cross my screen while I'm around and it is just astounding what this has come down to. The Republican parties new leader of 'The Donald' has been enough to turn my stomach, but the BS that Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader of the Senate spit out today was just over the top.
When asked by Chris, if Hillary was elected President, would Obama's nominee be considered in a lame duck session Mitch replied he “can’t imagine that a Republican majority in the United States Senate would want to confirm, in a lame duck session, a nominee opposed by the National Rifle Association and the National Federation of Independent Businesses.” Of course, this has to be part of the Constitution that Republicans adhere to because that's where most of their re-election funds come from, the NRA and Big Business. Really sad folks as republicans keep ignoring the will of the people, and kow-tow to the rich and powerful.
Anyways, this link, for those of you who normally(and I say that with high respect) can't stomach the one sided views of Faux News, take a look at that clip and let me know what you think. To me, he's making a mockery of this President and the Constitution, let alone the 'will of the majority' of people who put this President into office twice.
